The most important aspect of a security system is alarm monitoring, not just having a local alarm that makes noise. Here are some scenarios where alarm monitoring has saved lives:
- Scenario #1: An intruder enters the home and triggers the residential security system. The intruder confronts the homeowner and forces them to disarm the system. Since the alarm was triggered, the alarm monitoring company calls to see if everything is alright. The homeowner – who is being forced by the intruder to comply – replies, “yes, everything is OK” instead of giving the code word. Failure to give the code word prompts the dispatcher to send help right away.
- Scenario #2: Teenagers are home alone while their parents are at work. The residential security system is triggered. The teenagers do not know why but suspect someone may have broken into the home. The alarm monitoring company remains on the phone with the teenagers and sends help immediately.
- Scenario #3: A family is fast asleep when the alarm monitoring company calls to let them know that smoke has been detected. The family is able to evacuate the home while the alarm monitoring company sends help.
Hopefully you will never be in a position where the alarm monitoring company needs to call you. But, if you ever do need it, you will be glad you have it. When ABC Fire & Burglar Alarm sends our security alarm installer to your home, he or she will be happy to go into further detail about how alarm monitoring works in conjunction with your residential alarm system. We can also set up alarm monitoring on existing alarm systems, even those we did not install. Give us a call to learn more.
